The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 requires that the Attorney General report annually to Congress on the number of applications made and approved by the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court authorizing federal officials to conduct electronic or physical searches for the purpose of gathering foreign intelligence in the United States. Copies of the annual reports to Congress beginning in 1979 appear below (PDF format).
